The Pain Management Service at Raffles Hospital provides treatment for patients with chronic cancer
and non-cancer pain. The objective is to improve physical function, sleep and quality of life in chronic pain
sufferers.
Common pain syndromes include headaches, spinal (neck and back) pain, herniated discs, arthritis,
myofascial pain, trigeminal neuralgia, post-shingles neuropathic pain, chronic post-surgical pain, complex
regional pain syndrome, diabetes-related neuropathic pain as well as cancer pain.
Patients will have access to a variety of treatment options including medication, physiotherapy,
occupational therapy, exercise training, interventional pain therapy, acupuncture as well as traditional
Chinese medication. Common interventional pain treatments include trigger point injections, epidural
steroid injections, nerve blocks, radiofrequency thermoablation, spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal
drug delivery.
A multi-disciplinary team of specialists including pain physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, neurologists,
psychiatrists, psychologists and physiotherapists is available to help solve difficult pain problems.
